The kidnapping of minor girls (and, sometimes, boys) is not a major happening in this country. It happens so often that we hardly see it on TV or YouTube. Sometimes there is a small item in the Press. Most people think of it as a class problem, with the victim in a class lower than themselves."It's not going to happen to us" is the response of some people.
Parents, generally poor or worried about their family, sometimes unable to follow the cases, stay at home … and cry all their lives about what has happened to their children. The victims are sold to prostitution dens, often given for money to beggar-mafias, sometimes raped and even killed.
The 'Zaheer' case was different!
The father, Mehdi Sahab, turned out to be the father that many children thought their own fathers would be (if it ever sadly came to such a problem). Grieved, like his wife … who faints every now and then when she thinks of the trouble her daughter is going through … has been a pillar of strength to many father and mothers.
Mehdi Sahab stood up and decided to fight, not just for his own daughter but of the children of all of Pakistan. For those of you who saw the link above (and if you haven't, you must read it now), you'll know all that has happened in this case. Lies abound among YouTubers (like Zunaira Mahum), but Maria Ali, Mehreen Sibtain, Shahid Husain, and many many others tell the truth and bring us up to date. And we now even have Iqrar ul Hassan (who many were waiting for) have his views.
Surprisingly, though, even a Mainstream Channel (Samaa TV) interviewed the girl and her non-husband and tried to take their false side. It's worth boycotting their channel. Had this been the daughter of Samaa TV's owner, would such a program have run? Haah!!!
Everyone in Pakistan has followed this case and many protests are taking place, here and abroad, We now know that the girl did not travel to Lahore alone. Babar Saleem did a remarkable job (something that shows the bias of Sind Police). You can watch him on YouTube explaining how he managed this.
In many of the early programs we saw Shehla Raza as well as many YouTubers talk about the MasterMind who actually runs this kidnapping case. He obviously has tons of money that he spends on the case, traveling the kidnapped girl around, paying for lawyers, feeding the lot in the gang, flying them in and out of Karachi, paying Punjab University people. I hear from Maria Ali that it has cost him crores already!
The thing that has happened every now and then is that the payer is the brother of a sitting(?) politician … and every one has said the politician should not be named because the party of the politician does not have the kidnapping brother on their list.
Hmmm.
Strange, now that more facts have unfolded. Name the politician and let him come out and say that it is his brother's fault and he and his party condemns the act. In fact he'd win hands down if he helped us arrest his brother.
My own guess is that the politician is from the PPP (though I may be wrong). Why do I think so?
(1) Because the MasterMind has often been referred to as a Wadera … and Sindh has many of these;
(2) Because neither Asif Ali Zardari nor his family (they may have said things but not really followed the case through) have said much to highlight this case;
(3) In the Nazim Jokhio murder case 2 members of PTI were guilty but were released and Bilawal/Asif did nothing to have them arrested. In fact they showed their like for them.
(4) The Sind Police head was a Sindhi, as were his assistants, including the I/O … and they, too, ruined (and still do) the case because the MasterMind has access to them; 4 heads of this case has been changed. They continue to not capture Zaheer's mother and his ex-lawyer (although they are visible everywhere).
(5) Even Shehla Raza - a Minister - had to be surprised at what was happening. I hope she wins in this and all other cases. Good luck to her
Dear kidnapped girl, we are with you. Don't be worried - though you must have reasons. You'll be with your parents soon.
