Inviting your views ...
Does this kind of 'game' promote the 'wrong' values?
More important: Is there really such a thing as 'right' and 'wrong' values? Or was Lenny Bruce right when he said, "There's no Right or Wrong. Only Need!" ... ?
I think there's something to be said for "values", but more from an "ethics" perspective than a "moral" one. I think the question is that if this is entirely only a game, and there's some cognisance of the fact that this isn't kosher in the real world...*shrug*. I blow up things with dynamite and broil enemies with flamethrowers all the damn' time online. I just know I'll get into seriour merde if I tried it offline.
I do not subscribe to violence & this game is committing & promoting violence, not to speak of promoting unspeakable ethics. A-moral attitudes are unacceptable.
Playing games for the young of any species is nature's way of developing skill sets that are important for adult survival. It's a sad commentary on our own values when the skills we polish involve crime, misogyny and violence. Sure kids have steam to blow off, but can't fun be created without fitting in the above elements?
The finding bank account information and stealing money part wouldn't be permitted by law in any country that actually has a set of laws, I presume.
ReplyDeleteZakintosh, you have an excellent and very literate blog - fan from India. Thanx.
ReplyDelete@anonymous: *blush* & thanks
